This is a silent installer for K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.
The K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of free audio/video codecs. Download it from K-Lite Homepage.
As of version 10 it uses a combined 32-bit and 64-bit installer.
Use the following XML file to install it:

Luckily I came upon this here in betanews. Its helped me replace software like Real Player which I had to use to play certain video and music formats that WMP and quicktime would give me errors. Now they all work with this download. I do a pretty good look over on my pc when i download a new software to see if its adding any bs. Didn't see any. Had to go to the pub. website to see what the difference between the various versions were. I say its a safe bet to just download the mega version so it covers all bases. It says beta, but so far no problems..

that's now spyware or malware or anything bad..
It gives you an option to install or not..
It FREE software and it's the best available online..
The developers need money and one of the way to make money is to include the toolbars in the installer package and they didn't force you to install those toolbars..Its better than some free apps that force you to install some annoying toolbars without any options to choose.

k-lite is where it's at.
This is without no doubt the best codec pack you can get, I've been using for about 3 years now, and I have never noticed any problems yet it just keep getting better and better. And to TROLL, what language are you using? I can't understand what you are writing.

There are four different variants of the K-Lite Codec Pack. Ranging from a very small bundle that contains only the most essential decoders to a large and more comprehensive bundle. A bundle of multimedia codecs for Windows
K-Lite Codec Pack for Windows is a suite of audio and video codecs that allows the operating system software to play a massive number of multimedia formats that the OS doesn’t usually support. It also includes various related extra tools in the form of tweaks and options to further boost the viewing and listening experience.
Easier media playing
Codecs are computer programs that encode or decode videos, and different codecs work with various video formats. Your PC may require you to download a codec if you try to play a video format it cannot support. High-quality movies could be encoded in formats that your OS doesn’t support natively. K-Lite is the solution to that problem.
When you take a codec pack, you get a software bundle to facilitate the process so you wouldn't have to find each individually.
Today's programme, K-Lite Codec Pack, is a collection of codecs, tools, and some extra filters provided by DirectShow. These serve as players for your audio and video, designed for playing all your files in a user-friendly manner.
It covers all popular and even some rare video formats, using tried-and-tested codecs to make the programme 100% safe to use.
How K-Lite Codec Pack works
Once you download the file, the smart installer will launch and automatically adapt to your version of Windows. Note that it supports all versions of this operating system, starting with Windows XP from 2003.
Once you install this software, it will upgrade the media capabilities of your system to enable it to play a range of formats using high-performing audio and video codecs. It will also not install any codecs already existing on your computer.
During the installation and setup procedures, you may choose to install only some of the codecs from the pack or the entire thing. Here, you may also remove any broken codecs pre-installed on your PC for better overall software performance.
You may also select the advanced setup, which enables you to take advantage of tweaks such as multiple surround-sound settings, HDMI, and S/PDIF audio pass-throughs. Plus, the installer will find and remove obsolete and broken codecs during the process.
This software supports playback of various file formats, from AV to Msepack. After decryption, it also runs DVD and Blu-ray.
Functionalities
Apart from the filters itself, you'll find a variety of options for tweaking and extras. When you play your audio or video of choice, this pack will offer you a range of features to enhance your experience.
You may add subtitles, browse your videos through thumbnails, associate files, and much more.
As this tool bundle comes in various versions, if you go for a more comprehensive pack, you may also get some video editing features, as well as audio and video processors.
Note that all versions of this programme are free, but there’s a trick about installing the latest versions. To update from one to another, you need to have already a version installed on your PC. In this case, you may get latest updates/ or the beta version of your package.
Although the experience of using K-Lite can be a challenge to navigate at the beginning, this pack is quite flexible. It allows you to configure your decoders and splitters of choice, for example, in any of the available formats. It also works with various media players.
The interface comes in English and German. You shouldn’t have issues with it, because it integrates into your media players automatically. If you have any questions, though, you'll find various K-Lite Codec Pack guides on their website to help you overcome your difficulties.
Four variants
The K-Lite Codec Pack comes infour variants. All are free, the only difference being the complexity to offer something to every user.
K-Lite Codec Pack Basic is the simplest version, which contains all you need to play the typical video file formats such as MKV, AVI, MP4, and FLV. It works excellent even with low-performing PCs and doesn't offer any extras. The three variants below have the same functions, with the following additions.
The Standard variant comes with a few extras, and it's best for an average user. Most notably, it contains the Media Player Classic, a renowned video player.
The Full option comes as an upgrade of the Standard variant, packed with a few new DirectShow filters as well as GraphStudioNext, an open-source alternative to the Microsoft Graph Edit.
Finally, K-Lite Codec Pack Mega is the most full-featured of the packs, containing VFW and ACM codecs for video encoding and editing. This version is for those looking to not only view but also create video content.
Issues and competitors
Perhaps the most significant drawback of this bundle of tools is itsincompatibility with Mac devices. The system is reserved only for Windows users.
Moreover, although it becomes intuitive quite quickly, the user interface is crowded, which may scare away beginners. Even next to the guides and tutorials, it can seem like a bit too much, especially if you go for a more sophisticated version.
Finally, you may find that some filters and other tweak tools balk during setup, which then takes you through another set of steps with the wizard before you can use them.
If you're looking for alternatives in terms of extras, LAV Filters is quite similar to a part of K-Lite's functionalities. It's a set of open-source filters by DirectShow, seeking to replace the need for a whole playback chain.
DivX is an open-source program that provides codecs as well. It could serve you as a replacement for K-Lite. Alternatively, you could go for ADVANCED Codecs for Windows, which is another full suite of video and audio codecs for the Windows operating system.
Finally, Kawaii Codec Pack is another bundle packed with the latest components of DirectShow. It focuses primarily on video but seeks to decode an array of media formats. Note, though, that it isn't receiving regular updates.
Fantastic optimization
Truthfully, the K-Lite Codec Pack does take some getting used to and experimentation so you'd extract its maximum performance. However, once you get the hang of it, it offers a fantastic set of tools to optimize the audio and video capabilities of your PC.

The K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of audio and video codecs for Microsoft WindowsDirectShow that enables an operating system and its software to play various audio and video formats generally not supported by the operating system itself. The K-Lite Codec Pack also includes several related tools, including Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC), Media Info Lite, and Codec Tweak Tool.[2]
K-Lite adds Video for Windows (VFW) codecs and DirectShow filters to the system, so that DirectShow/VFW based players like MPC, Winamp, and Windows Media Player will use them automatically.
Editions[edit]
There are four editions of the K-Lite Codec Pack, all free of charge.[2]
- Basic: The Basic edition is the smallest version and enables a Microsoft Windows computer to play the contents of AVI, Matroska (MKV), MP4, Ogg, Flash Video (FLV) and WebM files, etc. It only consists of LAV Filters (for video demultiplexing and audio and video decoding), DirectVobSub (for subtitle decoding), Codec Tweak Tool, Icaros ThumbnailProvider and Icaros PropertyHandler.[3] Basic is the only edition that includes neither MPC-HC nor MediaInfo Lite.[4]
- Standard: The Standard edition includes all features of the Basic edition plus MPC Video Renderer, MediaInfo Lite and MPC-HC.[5] This package is recommended for normal users.[2]
- Full: The Full edition includes all features of the Standard edition plus madVR, DC-Bass Source Mod and Plugin for 3D video decoding (H.264 MVC)[6]
- Mega: The Mega edition includes all features of the Full edition plus a few ACM/VFW codecs (e.g. x264VFW and Lagarith), ffdshow, AC3Filter, GraphStudioNext, VobSubStrip and FourCC Changer.[7]
After version 10.0.0, 64-bit codecs are integrated into the regular editions. Prior to this version there was a 64-bit edition designed specifically for 64-bit OSes.
After version 11.3.0, the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of LAV Filters share their settings, and an option to install only 64-bit codecs was added (visible only in Expert install mode).
After version 13.7.5, a user can remove installed components by deselecting them while running an updater. This also makes it possible to switch to a smaller variant of the codec pack without uninstalling first.
In the past some editions of the K-Lite Codec Pack included BS.Player, until it was supplemented with an adware package.[8]
Compatibility[edit]
K-Lite Codec Packs are compatible with Windows Server 2003 and later.[9]
The last version that is compatible with Windows Vista is version 16.7.6.[1] The last version that is compatible with Windows XP SP3 is version 13.8.5.[1] The last version that is compatible with Windows XP SP2 is version 10.0.5.[1] The last version that is compatible with Windows 2000 is version 7.10. The last version that is compatible with Windows 9x is version 3.45.
Starting with K-Lite version 10.0.0, 64-bit codecs were integrated into the regular K-Lite Codec Pack. Previously, a separate 64-bit edition of the pack was available for x64 editions of Windows.[10]

As of 27 October 2009[update], CNET reported a total of 1,074,578 downloads for K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 5.2 since its release date of 12 October 2009. User ratings gave it an average of 4.5 out of 5 stars, but it received only 87 reviews.[12] Meanwhile, CNET reported only 122,552 downloads for K-Lite Codec Pack Full Edition 5.2 (released on the same date); however, it also received an average user rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, albeit from only seven reviewers.[13] No CNET editors had reviewed these products up until this time.
On the same date, Betanews Fileforum reported a rating of 4.7 out of 5, based on 2,346 votes for K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 5.2.0 and 9,416,511 downloads.[14] Fileforum did not have an entry for K-Lite Codec Pack 5.2 Full.
In October 2009, Softpedia reported K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 5.2 and K-Lite Codec Pack 5.2 Update had been downloaded a combined total of 2,011,113 times after their release on 12 October 2009, and gave them a user rating of 4.4 out of 5 based on 2,281 votes.
